Hi! My name is Theresa. I am glad you are here. I love to read and I love to share books with people. I work as a reference librarian and one of my favorite parts of my job is recommending books to people. I love when they come back to me and say, “That book you gave me—oh! Wow! I loved it! Do you have any more like that?”
I created this space to share the books I read with others and to share my opinions on those books. I admit that I am not a fan of reviews that recap the book. Here you will find what I thought was unique about the book, what I liked about it, why I feel the book is relevant, how I related to it and who I think would like it and why. I might mention other books like it (because so often at work, I am asked, do you have any books like…).
If you want to know more about me…I was born and raised in New Jersey. I am proudly from a blue-collar Catholic family. My parents are both first generation Americans–my dad’s “people” are from Poland and my mom’s family is from Sicily. My parents are both avid readers and I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that my brother is now a high school Language Arts teacher and I am a librarian.
My husband Jason and I have been married for 21 years. He is a passionate environmentalist and a devoted arborist. He raised the trees that were planted in the World Trade Center Memorial in Lower Manhattan and you can see our family in a documentary available on Amazon and in itunes.
Jason and I have two girls. They are both teenagers and will both be attending college in the fall of 2018.
When I am not working at the library or reading, you can find me practicing yoga, cooking vegetarian meals, hiking with my husband or having a bonfire on the beach with my family and friends.
